Why now and not before is suspiciously politically motivated.
I'll agree with you there. Maybe I jumped the gun a little in trying to see his side of it.
AND he lost his brother because some brass made stupid decisions, and then they lied to him about how it all happened.
I think it would be better suited to call him "disillusioned".
There was quite an article in Sports Illustrated about a month ago about Pat and how he died.
I'm not agreeing with him, but people should read it before they come down too hard on this guy.
BTTT
People do it all the time. They're called "Letters To The Editor". Truthdig didn't have to pay him, but they did.
He couldnt be more wrong. And of all people he should know better. Of course the MSM will give him one thousand times the voice of someone who lost a loved one or served who correctly believes that this war is just and necessary.
Funny how the media is there to pick up on these venomous, anti-American screeds. This guy is just another tool for the leftist, Blame-America first crowd. Wonder when we'll see him kissing Hugo "el diablo" Chavez? And how convenient that this rant occurs just two weeks from the election. Ah, the predictability of the DemocRATS!
Does anyone remember the last time the LSM interviewed soldiers, Marines or airmen who spoke supportively of the war? Men and women who were proud of our mission, knew that we were there LEGALLY and were glad that we were there, taking it to the terrorists?
Hmmm ... me neither.
You do know that Sports illustrated is owned by the same company that's own CNN. You know the news network that is reveling in showing islamofascist terrorists sniping and killing American troops.
Having said that, I don't agree with anything he said. It's his right to rant on, whether we agree with it or not. Attack the message, don't attack the messenger. That's how skirmishes are fought in won in the war of ideas.
He lost some points with me where he attacked 5 year olds who aren't old enough to understand the complexities of life, let alone a global war on terror.
Pat Tillman signed on in the wake of 9/11, yet (IIRC) he and his brother were first sent to Iraq (and only later to Afghanistan). There was probably some understandable resentment about that, since they weren't necessarily fighting the very creeps who planned and executed the attacks on America. I the wake of Pearl Harbor, there was a fair amount of bitterness when we adopted a "Europe first" policy in WWII. Once that sort of resentment works its way into one's system, it's a lot easier to swallow the Left-wing lies and conspiracy theories. Many of the "battling Bastards of Bataan" developed a 'tude about MacArthur and the US Government abandoning them in their day.
Good perspective. Thank you.
Including the entire 75th Ranger Regiment.
Hope he hasn't alienated them. They're the ones to judge or not. And in 10 or 20 years, what they think will probably matter a whole lot more to him then than it does now.
I hate how Kevin's brother died. I don't hate what he died for. Pat Tillman believed his country was engaged in a noble cause. He was right. I have read stories of Americans killed by "friendly fire" in Europe fighting the Nazis. Their deaths were no less tragic than Pat Tillman's. I hold no animus toward his brother for his bitterness - it does not seem as calculated as that of Cindy Sheehan, whose wild publicity-seeking long ago destroyed whatever claim she may have had to righteous anger. RIP Pat Tillman: may your sacrifice not be in vain.
Color me skeptical, but I don't believe everything I read on the internet.
This is the kind of stuff that gets circulated through e-mail, and passed off as "believeable" because someone with a recognizable name appears to be the publisher. That wouldn't be the first time that's happened.
Truthdig didn't have to pay anything for it. They say they did, but it doesn't say how much they paid for it.
Then where is Kevin Tillman to disregard this rant? And also I wouldn't be surprised if TruthDig is a Soros front and that Kevin Tillman gladly accepted their money.
Well, you would think that the media, especially ESPN, would have caught up with Kevin Tillman to check that he was the author.
Pat Tillman, Sr. is a bit of a moonbat (on other issues, too) and believes all sorts of conspiracy theories about his son. Fairly understandable since it was a friendly fire incident that the soldiers there appeared to want to cover up.
Fromw what I've read, Kevin Tillman's mother and father are just as bitter as he is and probably approved of this hate America rant.
I agree, I think Kevin did take the money. As to whether he wrote it, well he's attributing it to himself, so that's all that matters.
I would be shocked if truthdig weren't a Soros front. No little website can be affording to pay anything resembling serious money for contributions. Not without taking beaucoup money in ads.
