" I'm not sure a referendum is legally binding in Mexico, which may be a factor in its rejection."

The Mexican Congress can remove Ruiz by declaring the "disappearance of powers" in the state of Oaxaca, which they pledged to do if the referendum against Ruiz succeeded, which would be binding. This agreement was negotiated by Carlos Abascal, General Secretary of Segob, and was in turned offered to APPO and the SNTE a couple of weeks back.

The guy quoted at the end of THIS article, ITAM academic Rafael Fernandez de Castro who impressively stated at a public conference that Mexico should clean up its own house before shamefully demanding even more that the USA implement immigration reforms:

lived in Washington D.C. for a while a decade ago. He's seemingly worth keeping an eye on as he's evidently going to be a potential thorn in the Left's side, and hopefully that of the oligarchs too. I knew the guy back in D.C. a decade ago and he's pretty down-to-Earth. Probably close to 45 now.

I'm a logical person, and I always wondered why it was that we had drug cartel mansions within a mile of the border?
How come we don't see them bombed by our black ops guys or the Mexican government?
Why are they allowed to stand?

Point 1) My logic says it is because they have great influence within the Mexican government or may even be the actual government in fact.

Point 2) Now we have what I consider problems with a communist issue in Mexico.
I now look back and think I am realizing the reason the USA left the drug cartels standing in Mexico is they are the ones fighting a communist takeover of Mexico.

Seems the USA government may have seen what was happening and ahead more than most of the citizens.

Just my take, but I find it interesting. (or at least curious).
