The GOP does not have the guts to stand up to the labor unions. The media will certainly fricasse them if they do. The court's have already ruled that its unconstitutional to restrict union political acitivies, so with campaign finance reform, they are the only direct donation game in town, and they brag every election cycle that they give in excess of $100,000,000 in donations to the Dems. The Dems won't have any difficulty repaying them for that contribution, if they take power.
Nor will they have any difficulty allowing the tax cuts to expire. The only good thing about that is that it won't happen until 08, but the mere anticipation might act as a damper on the economy.
Well, I haven't independently verified it, but MNJohnnie posted a nice list of Republican accomplishments yesterday. One of the items that stood out was the part about hundreds(it may have been thousands) of labor union bosses being prosecuted for corruption.
