sitetest, I would call it a dead heat which is bad news for Cardin.
Dear Norman Bates,
The polls certainly are not good news for Mr. Cardin.
However, Mr. Steele is running in a state where many, many voters are congenitally unable to pull a lever for someone with an "R" on his back.
As well, there's a lot of time between now and Nov. 7, and the major media here (Washington Lying Thieving Post, Baltimore Sun) represent a toxic environment for Republicans. Any little misstep by Mr. Steele could be blown up into a major problem.
Yet, Mr. Steele must continue to campaign aggressively.
So, it's still an uphill struggle.
However, Mr. Steele's secret weapon is that he is among the best retail politicians this state has ever seen (it is quite thrilling to see and hear him in person, as I have been privileged to witness) and he has been reaching out to the electorate pretty much non-stop for the last four years, especially in the black community.
What folks don't see in the major media is the stealth campaign that Mr. Steele has waged for the last four years to get his message out there. That's why something like 60% or 70% of blacks are at least thinking of voting for him. And that's why he could wind up with 25% or 30% of the vote there.
Keepin' my fingers crossed!!
