But that's where you're wrong. His death affected him EXACTLY as it affects every human: all the suffering, and the final wrenching separation of soul and body are there for him, as for you, at the end, or for me. So you're saying the rest of us can pop back in a couple of days after we're dead to chat with old friends and take in a meal or two, too? Face it, when we die we know we're not coming back here, nor do we get to run dad's business after that.
