President George W. Bush enjoys a moment with NASCAR racing champion Richard Petty during a visit Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2006, to the Victory Junction Gang Camp, Inc., in Randleman, N.C. The center was founded by Petty's son, Kyle, and Kyle's wife, Pattie, in memory of their son, Adam, a fourth-generation NASCAR driver killed during practice in 2000.

Adam was young. Just a kid, really. He had a warm, sunny personality and a hugely infectious smile. He was also a very genuine talent behind the wheel of a racecar. The work his family is doing with kids in his name and honor is wonderful.
