My grandmother is the same way. She has credit cards, but they never get used until Christmas time, and when the bill comes, it gets paid the moment it shows up in the mailbox.

My Grandfather was a shoe maker in Manhattan. He squirreled away a down payment for a house in Yonkers when he retired. He did this while supporting a family of four. I love that story!
