In March, Harris went on national television to say she would pump $10 million of her personal fortune into her bid to become a senator. So far, she has put in about $3.15 million, and only three weeks are left in the campaign.
Harris paid $795,000 for the home in 2003, and its total assessed value in 2005 was about $806,500. Even if she sells it for $1 million and puts that into the campaign, her total personal contribution would be $4.1 million.
Just-released finance reports show that Harris had about $964,000 in campaign money as of Sept. 30. That's not enough to make a statewide media buy, and Harris has not had any commercials on the air since the Republican primary. Nelson had about $6.8 million left as of Sept. 30, according to the reports.
Harris trails Nelson in most independent polls by 18 to 20 percentage points.

Gotta give Harris credit for not giving up. She's a tough lady!
I am sick of people kicking Harris now that she is down. She has done more for this country than any of her critics.
Don't tell us, tell all those people voting for Nelson.
It is a disgrace with all the money the gop has that we have to resort to this. If 2 faced nelson is reelected then the gop gets the govt they deserve.
It is too late to preach about her not being the best candidiate she is the only candidate
she defied the president by running for senate and not working to keep her house seat....
I would suggest that her lack of national support reflects the fact that there is limited money to spend, and it needs to be spent where it has the most possibility of having an impact. 3 weeks prior to the election and down by 15-20 points (or whatever the number is) would apparently be seen as throwing money away.
Bull, she stepped aside last Senate race and let Martinez win. She ran and no other viable candidate ran. Not her fault. Perhaps she should have waited longer, but it was not like Jeb Bush was going to run.
Paying ten million dollars to be a Senator makes you wonder is the office is vastly overperked with too much influence for sale.
she was asked by the president not to run.....that is not bull...i hope she wins, as i have been pulling for her all along, but she has been denied funding from the GOP because she defied the will of the party by running...I say you go girl
Stepped aside from what? She's not been favorably viewed as a senate candidate ever. She was in a safe house district and dropped that for pie in the sky dreams of being a senator, now she's behind big time. I'll vote for her, only because she's the lesser of two evils, but she's not the best person for the job. IF she wins next month, he seat will be in play right from the start.
What's hard to understand about putting money where it might actually make a difference instead of flushing it down the commode?
Selling a home in Sarasota these days? Good luck with that.
Actually, Bush asked her not to run in 2004 and that he would support her in 2006. I have not heard Bush told her not to run this time. If he did, Bush went back on his word.
I don't see how selling her house is going to help. In the first place, it will take longer than three weeks to even get the money from such a sale, so that spoils things.
In the second place, houses aren't selling all that quickly anywhere.
In the third place, it won't make a bit of difference in the election, which she lost long ago.
My advice to KH is to sit tight, take her lumps, and hang on to what assets she has. She's going to need them without that Senate salary and perks.
Man, you got that right! She is one gutsy lady! I'll take 1 of her over 10 Denny Hasterts any day!

Bingo. She put her personal ambition ahead of the party's interests.
And now it looks like she can't or won't live up to the promises she made to get the nomination. That's just great.
We should have picked up a Senate seat in Florida. If she can't afford to buy airtime, how does she expect to win?
