First, I am a Conservative first and I will vote on election day, as always straight Republican. Positive reasons include reduced taxes, decent judges, and a recognition on the part of most elected Republicans of who the Islamo-facist enemy is and what he wants to do to us, to America. But make no mistake about it this is a "hold my nose" vote. Why?

1. Illegal Immigration- We're better than the libs on this (not the White House or the Senate but the House) but we're still terrible
2. Wimpy Prosecution of the War- Let our troops fight to win, clean out the Jihadis, secure Iraq's border
3. Spending/Earmarks- No discernible difference between the two parties on this. My rep voted to keep the beneficiary of the earmarks a secret from the public and got an earful.
4. Rove Strategy of Supporting Incumbents in Primaries- Laffey/Chaffee and Toomey/Spector were both very disappointing decisions. "Realpolitik" resulted in a Spector re-election but Chaffee is lagging badly and what's the deal with the White House and RNC submarining Katherine Harris?

I could go on but a lot of my disaffection is directed towards the Bush White House. I'm particularly upset with the naming of super-lib, Henry Paulson to SecTreas and importing Goldman Sachs to run the Tresury Department.

What really annoys me most at this time is being called "stupid" by my own party for being less than enthusiastic about our national party. Normally it's the libs or the MSM that's calling me that after we've just won another national election. Now it's Rush and the RNC.
First they tell us not to upset the applecart in the primaries and go with the Rino because he stands the best chance of winning. Then they tell us that although the Rino stinks he's a heck of a lot better than the lib-Dem-socialist he's running against. And they're right but...
If the country is basically conservative why are our guys always moving left when they hit the beltway and becoming conservative again only every two, four, or six years when they need us to be reelected. It gets old.
