This is one of the more hotly contested open congressional seats in the country. The split between Republicans, Independents and democrats in this district is roughly split equally three ways at 33% each. This was (R) Bob Beauprez seat which he gave up to run for Governor of Colorado this year.
Rick O'Donnell conversely agreed to the debate right away when contacted weeks ago and was open to just about any date.
Today on the Mike Rosen show at 850am KOA there was a 'debate' between the candidates for the 7th congressional district here in Colorado between (R) Rick O'Donnell and (d) ed perlmutter. The only problem was that the democrat refused the invitation for today or any other day for the past month. In the end the perlmutter campaign simply refused to call Mike Rosen's producer back to schedule a date.
Here are the audio links for Rick O'Donnell's appearance today. Mike Rosen shreds the ed perlmutter dodge and weave tactics over the past few weeks which in the end amounted to a pocket veto against accepting an invitation to debate.

Thanks listening in now.
Looks like Murtha isn't the only Democrat who's running from a debate. Diana Irey may have to adopt this technique in PA.
Rick O'Donnell was VERY impressive on Hugh Hewitt;s show yesterday!! VERY IMPRESSIVE!!
How is this race currently looking on the ground? I can't imagine that it can be good for Perlmutter at all to be running away from debates. Has momentum picked up for O'Donnell?
I don't know about the ground game, but agree that it looks bad for Perlmutter not to show up. Maybe he'll use the same excuse that Cardin did for not showing up for the NAACP debate w Steele - he was triple booked. I've heard Mike Rosen's name before - hope his radio show has a good-sized audience and this gets some ply in the press in CO.
Here's what RCP has to say:
Perlmutter by 6 as of 10/7; Tie as of 10/10 RT Strategies
Looks like the polls are starting to trend our way then. I don't put much stock in polls for house races though.
I'm trying to get a handle on the ground game in a couple of important places...specifically the house districts in Indiana and Colorado. I wouldn't mind a bit more info on AZ as well.
Triple booked? Cardin was running because Steele murdered him a day earlier at the first debate. He can't hang and everyone now knows that. An incumbent can pull the "I won't elevate you by debating you" technique, but for an open seat, this is just pathetic. As far as I'm concerned, this finishes Cardin. I've expected that Steele would win all along, but now it's more of a question of by how much.
The only way this doesn't hurt Perlmutter badly is if O'Donnell can't afford to get out there and make everyone aware that Perlmutter is a spineless turd that can't debate anyone...Looks like he's okay on money though.
