TWINKIES GO BAD!
Not having much experience with Twinkies, I didn't know this, either. All I had ever heard was that they are indestructible.
That seemed like a good reason to have Twinkies in my non-perishable food list for my hurricane kit this year. I got a good deal on two boxes of them, so brought them home.
After about a week, I decided I should sample them - I don't ever have anything like Twinkies in the house, so they could be construed as a "treat."
Yum. I really liked them. Fast forward two months ...
Word came down that we probably wouldn't be having any hurricanes here on the TX Gulf Coast this year, so I dismantled my hurricane kit and put the food in the pantry. But I wanted that 2nd box of Twinkies!
Bah! They were moldy! Moldy! Like old bread! Green powdery mold was on them! I never want to see a Twinkie again as long as I live. Please spread the word:
Actually, the cake Marie Antoinette was talking about was the blackened burned crust cut off the bottom of the bread when it was baked. But you're right, that may be too good for the dummies!
