"madison" is the name of the street just south of my house and was chosen randomly. "10" because I guess there were nine other "madisons."

Although I was born over the border in Ohio (some things just cannot be helped), I've lived in Michigan all of my life. :)

I saw the Michigan Senate Debate. Bouchard won hands down. Debbie Stabenow is so.....blah...so nothing. If she was a man, she'd be called an empty suit.

I lived in Michigan during the 80s. Ronald Reagan carried the Union Vote both times he ran.

I was there too. The unions were blind sided back then, they are much harsher in dealing with their membership and more clever with their propaganda and with the attacks on their opponents today.

I doubt it would work now, and you have to admit, Reagan was once in a lifetime.

Michigan has a beautiful landscape, gorgeous lakes, great people, wonderful sports teams, but the Union and Liberals have sucked out our life's blood.

What is your favorite part of the state to visit?

ROFL at Senator Fat Suit.

quantim,

it is getting bluer, the Red State voter friends of mine that have left, are doing well elsewere.

Yes the housing mkt is a mess. A friend who dabbles in RE investments says it will be 5 years before it turns around, that is just their opinion. We are stuck here. I might as just as well fix the house up and enjoy it, we won't get jack for it....

My dog could have beat Gov. Gramcracker with the state of this state...leave it to the Mich repub's to pick someone that looks and sounds like a stuttering Mr. Rogers from Beverly Hills to blow it.

Much agreed, I like most of it.

I guess I like the Northern section of the lower peninsula best........Crystal Lake up to Petosky.

Yeah I do, because Michigan is a barometer. What happens in MI affects my state.

Well then TRY to be more positive
Ya know it isn't over until Stabenow ( a.k.a." the fat lady") sings!

This email I received suggests that DeVos has really upset traditional conservatives and has lost support. It's from West Branch in Ogemaw County.

Dear Mr. DeVos: We were upset that you said that you favor teaching "intelligent design" in the schools. We think that schools are for teaching good science, and your opinion is that some religious doctrine is able to come into schools masked as science. My family are strongly in objection to your opinion. "Intelligent design" is not a scientific idea. There is no support of this doctrine in any Michigan university or engineering society. It is a religious notion. Mostly supported by a Moonie named Jonathan Wells. It is extreme. It is not the place of you as Governor to support one religion over another. We were shocked that you would promote this. Are you in favor of psychics, occult doctrines, homeopathy, and all the other pseudo-nonsense out there? We think that you should provide leadership for our state and not be a parrott for Televangelists. We wish to know exactly what your views are on science and separation of church and state. Sincerely, Joan Kirian Our family: Jonathan, Mark, Julia, and Emily PS. We supported you before, but your newly stated views are a great disappointment.

I like that idea: terminate merit scholarships and just plain pay tuition for everybody but we'll raise the academic standards too. Grandstanding Jenny didn't say it, but I imagine that would entail signing a petition. A little while ago she created a petition for lower gasoline prices. People signed the petition and voila! Presto chango! Lower gasoline prices for everybody.

While we're at it, lets have free health care for everybody too.

Woah, and that ominous warning that if you don't vote for her we're all going to lose our collective teats to suck on.

Better vote for Granstanding Jenny if you know what's good for you.

Oh, and garbage. Yes, that's an issue that absolutely has to be stopped. We wouldn't want the communities to benefit from the revenue generated by that.

And Jenny's logic is impecable: if you want to curtail something, then raise taxes on that. But the converse, such as lowering taxes for businesses, i.e., SBT, doesn't apply. Because if you lower taxes for businesses, well, that would just be bad. But raising taxes on garbage would be good because it would stop garbage coming into the state (which is bad).

I think that was a stroke of genius at the end, where Grandstand cited a comparison of her against her oponnent. Every time she said, "Me", I said no, everytime she cited DeVos, I said, "check". At the end of the comparison I took stock of the assessment and found all the check marks under the DeVos heading. I even more confused now than before.

The one question never asked in any of the debates leaves me just as mystified as before: when are the training-wheels are coming off of Grandstanding Jenny's political career.

Don't be so harsh. She accomplished a whole lot as measured on the John Kerry standard. She got the garbage stopped from coming into Michigan and the associated pesky revenues in one fell swoop, and she's stumpin' for free health care for everybody. Bouchard doesn't have a chance against that record.

Sure, Granholm hasn't been the greatest governor, but is DeVos really the best guy we could find to run against her? I was hoping that this third debate would deliver some actual specifics on his plan for the state, but still no luck. He still hasn't convinced me that he's the best person for the job, or even why he wants the job, for that matter.

I hope that you just forgot to put in the "sarcasm" alert on this reply.

But, having lived in Michigan for 10 years and knowing it's "liberal bent", free health care will sell really well there.
