Democrats Favored When Economy Uncertain (Unbelievable Liberal Spin!)
AP/Business Week ^ | OCT. 16 2:22 P.M. ET | Jeannine Aversa

The nation's economy has encountered its shares of bumps this year, and voters are uneasy. They've seen the value of their homes drop and surging prices for energy and other goods take a big cut out of their paychecks.

In the face of these uncertain economic times, they think Democrats can do a better job handling the economy.

Never mind that gasoline prices have started dropping, that the value of their 401(k)s rises with each new Dow Jones industrial average record, and that the interest rates on their credit cards and adjustable mortgages have leveled off for now. feel guilty about their wealth.

Do people actually feel guilty or is it a ploy to deflect envy? Being the target of envy is not enjoyable so many of the rich assume the persona of the "good" rich. I'm not sure guilt has a thing to do with it.

I used to be a reporter, too.

I went into advertising. It's more honest.

Who in their right mind could ever think the democrats could handle the economy better when democrats are anti-business, high tax and spend, and big government. Either people are idiots or this is the biggest lie (done with phony polls) ever told by the democrats and the media. How could the big government party every be better for the economy when they want to take every larger amounts of money, via taxes, from the economy and waste it on government social programs instead of letting the economy use it to grow the economy. That makes no sense to me.

So, don't believe your lying eyes, right?

Here in my neck of the woods, every other home is having work done. Driveways being paved, room and multi-room additions, out buildings, and not to mention, pretty good looking cars in every driveway.

Upon reaching the main highway, I see several strip malls having their entire row of storefronts refaced, entrie parking lots being repaved, and store interiors beings remodeled. Even the farmers market is redoing itself.

Looking further, I see a new shopping center with a Target as it's hub, and a second high-end shopping center called the "Promenade". The nearest mall is adding stand-alone stores in it's parking lot.

The local restaurants are busy for dinner, and breakfast, for that matter.

Yep, life is really good here in the Quakertown, PA area. Our Gov. (fast Eddie) tries to take the credit, but, most of us know it's the tax cuts bearing fruit.

'Nuf sad!

Don't worry about me. I'm voting Republican.

"Around 60 percent of likely voters say their local economies and their own personal finances are strong, according to an Ipsos poll conducted for RBC Financial Group. "

It's like what Rush and other Conservative's say about these stupid polls. This answer shows if the poll is somewhat correct that the American Sheeple are swayed by what the MSM says. If 60% say their local economies are strong, how in the (blank) does that translate into the national economy being so bad.

Who comes up with this sh!t?!

The price of gas is DOWN over 50% in the past year.

A fall in housing value ONLY MATTERS IF YOU ARE SELLING IT.

The Dow just hit it's seventh record close in two weeks.

So, here's how the economy is doing:
- The Dow is HIGHER THAN IT EVER WAS UNDER CLINTON.
- Unemployment is AS LOW AS IT EVER WAS UNDER CLINTON.
- Interest rates are AS LOW AS THEY EVER WERE UNDER CLINTON.
- Real estate is worth MORE THAN IT EVER WAS UNDER CLINTON.

And all this IS IN SPITE OF A TERRORIST ATTACK ON OUR SOIL AND AN UNENDING ATTEMPT BY THE MEDIA TO TALK DOWN THE ECONOMY.

If that's true, then why didn't they kick a$$ in 2004 when the economy was VERY uncertain?!!

Remember the liberal mantra then -- "The jobless recovery"?

Oh, yeah ... that was 2 years and 4.5+ million new jobs ago.

Silly me. Nevermind.

My wife and I were trying to figure out what to do for dinner on Friday night (because the restaurant we normally eat at on Fridays was closed for a private party) and I suggested that we hadn't been to Ruth's Chris Steakhouse in a while. I called them to see if we could get a reservation and they had nothing available until 10:00 PM. People don't go out to eat $100 per person dinners when they believe the economy is "uncertain."

The purpose of all these articles is to elicit cries of "DIEBOLD!!" when the GOP wins in November.

Hell, what about 2002 when it was actually pretty bad (by 2004 things were looking up IIRC).

LOL! That's so true. The economy was MUCH worse prior to the '04 Elections, 'cept for those nasty gas prices.

Here's more:

I saw that and commented that Halperin has zero credibility. I wasn't familiar with Aversa but I see she's in the "talking down the economy" crowd. What a bunch of lemmings.

I know the feeling.
Like I said, the MSM/DBM would like us to ignore what we see and believe what they write.
I suspect they still have some people fooled; however, the fact that they are so blatently biased and agenda driven will be the behavior that jeopardizes their continued employment.
Come to think about it, if we consider their industry on it's own, it may well be true that their peer group is really experiencing the bad economy that they write about.
Fortunately, they are probably the only industry that is on the decline. Everyone else, including the airlines and GM, seem to be getting better.
Justice may well be served here, with a side of "crow".
