Thanks everyone. He said his power is out and wondered about possible tsunami danger. I guess there is none.

The bulletin I got only covers Alaska and the West coast of the lower 48. The Pacific tsunami forecast center I believe is responsible for Hawaii. I would not rule out a tsunami unless they give the all clear. Better err on the side of caution.

We were talking to our son who is in Honolulu when he told us he felt it. He is on the 13th story of a hotel. He said the building was swaying. We lost telephone contact with him for awhile. When we made contact again a few minutes later he said the power went out for a bit.

My parents are in Maui and said afer the first earthquake when the second (bigger one) happened, they were told to leave and go onto the golf course. Power and phones out/down. They were told just to stay away from water but the authorities were not thinking there was tsunami concern there (at least) on Maui from what they had been told by authorities.
