We get our gas at Costco in Kona. In the last month or so it's been at least 30 cents cheaper. One day when the barrel prices were on the move it was even 60 cents cheaper.
Costco's good for bread and juices too. Significant savings over regular Hawaii prices.

has the Hawaii governor requested federal assistance yet?

Thanks for the info, I assumed there was a connection between the two. I would imagine it would be very scary on an island with all this going on.

OK, here we go - CNN running a story about "problems" at the airport - limited water, no functioning toilets (they are electric), no communications telling tourists that outbound flights are not moving.
To: Howlin
From what I have learned it seems that there are minor injuries but significant damage to infrastructure.

Kauai has needed Costco for a long time. They are opening one in Hilo too, and on Oahu they are opening a third. Evidently the Hawaiian stores perform the best for Costco, which is understandable!
Only bad thing is lots of old mom and pop stores are gone, hard to find li hing and kava at Costco!

It noticed that too. Amazing. Don't you know things are supposed to be back to normal within an hour of a natural disaster.
To: La Enchiladita
I was in the valley, in one of the few multi-family projects in our area that wasn't significantly damaged. A considerable number of neighboring apartment and condo projects fell into their parking structures.
