The St. Petersburg Times ^ | October 14, 2006 | JENNIFER LIBERTO, Times Staff Writer

The Florida Democratic Party doesn't want signs in polling places stating that a vote for the disgraced former Rep. Mark Foley is really a vote for his replacement, state Sen. Joe Negron of Stuart.

The Democrats have absolutely no qualms about attempting to disenfranchise Republican voters.

However, post a joke poster on a lamppost somewhere encouraging Republicans to vote on Tuesday and Democrats to vote on Wednesday in order to reduce voting lines, and they want indictments and prison time.

What's wrong, are they afraid voters will vote for Buchanan instead?

The Reps can put people outside the polling places and make it known that Negron has replaced Foley.

They are only against this because it names the new republican and reminds folks of who is running against their candidate

LOL! And you can vote all day on the 8th at every polling place you find open. Just like all those after Christmas Sales.

Oh, whine.

Posters may not be put up WITHIN the polling place. But they may be placed OUTSIDE the polling place, up to within a certain specified distance of the entry door.

Advisories, however, do not qualify as "posters". They are no more illegal than individuals carrying in a "voter's guide" for purposes of remembering for whom he (or she) should be voting.

As Hastert pointed out the other day, in a statement that didn't get much press exposure (naturally), the Democrats orchestrated the Foley scandal ONE DAY after his name could no longer be removed from the ballot.

Accident? I don't think so. And naturally ABC cooperated, to the hilt.

Gee, I thought the Dems were champions for the little guy's right to vote for the candidate of his choice. They don't even want the guy to know is running!

The nice thing about it is that most republicans have internet access and/or watch Fox News so they will know that they need to hold their nose and vote for Foley in order to elect Joe Negron.

Well, since Studds is now a hero since his untimely death (RIP), maybe having Foley's name on the ballot will bring over some Dem votes too!

The Democrats have absolutely no qualms about attempting to disenfranchise Republican voters.

This is an opportunity for Negron in that district. He can remind his voters that these are the same dems who attempted to disenfranchise military votes in the contested 2000 Florida Presidential election. A good campaign guy can conflate the two and hang them around the dems necks no matter what the courts hold.

Negron has an advantage over the Republican candidate seeking to replace Tom DeLay. Voting straight ticket in Florida will be a vote for Negron.

Shekula-Gibbs has to be manually entered on the Texas voting machine.
