Resolution 1718 imposes weapons and financial sanctions but is not backed by the threat of military force."

North Korea's UN envoy said he totally rejected the resolution and walked out."
Hmmm. Let's ask Russia.

But situation will be far more interesting, after Iran mounts the warheads on its BM-25s (if it doesn't have longer range missiles by then). That's okay, though, because it's not about today's cash flow or prices.

Are there any enforcement provisions at all, or are these "demands" and "calls" and "requirements" just so much hot air? Looks to me like the Chinese, Russians etc can work around these terms with relative ease, and who is to stop them?

IIRC The Japanese did something very similar at the League of Nations back in the early 30's when they(the Japanese ) were being condemned for invading Manchuria. This incident led to the break up of the League of Nations.

It's going to be difficult to reject the embargo if there aren't some pirates and other entrepreneurs willing to carry the freight.
