I'm a Tigers fan, but also love the Red Sox. When they lulled the Yankees into a false sense of security during the ALCS a couple of years ago I was feeling pretty let down. Eight games later I watched the last out here at work, and it was sweet. :')

You can't know very much about it if you say things like that. There are no facts to back up your assertion. Again, 1 incident does not make a pattern.

No, apparently you do not.

Yep. Harwell did an inning or two a few days ago. I missed it.
When Harwell and Carey were fired, my interest in baseball ended for a very long time. This season has dragged me back kicking and screaming!

Pudge should never have been allowed to leave..and what does he do? He promptly goes to the Florida Marlins and wins a World Series...and possibly is going to do the same with the Tigers..Pudge Rodriguez was nicknamed after Hall-of-Fame catcher Carlton "Pudge" Fisk. But if he leads another struggling team to a World Championship, Rodriguez may become the first one thought of in the future when the nick "Pudge" is mentioned.

Gotta say something nasty. Must be a Yankees or Oakland fan.
Or a realist.

Generalizations about a city should be based on actual facts, not ancient memories.Generalizations about teams and fans should be, also.

Yup. Detroit (and that includes the suburbs) needs all the good publicity it can get. Go Tigers!

"The game was tied 3-3 from the sixth inning."
By that time the Tigers had already come from well behind - what? 3-1?

I'm seeing some unusually great taglines here!

"I'm a Yankees fan. And the fact that the Tigers wallopped Oakland proves it was no fluke that they beat NY. I wouldn't have wanted to lose to a lesser team."
We Detroiters take that for a compliment.

Thank you! Having been a RedSox fan as a kid because I lived in NH, I really feel for all of this. I'm with you RS fans, too!

We Detroiters take that for a compliment. Now that's a proper response.
You are Yankees material. ;) And perhaps the Tigers are fit to borrow the World Series this year from the Yanks. ;)

It happened in 84. Some skirmishes in 80 after the Pistons. Other than that, name them. LA can burn there city down and it doesn't make front page news. There's problems in every big city that wins. But when it happens in Detroit, the dirt gets piled on. The city itself, just like every city in the country has it's problems. Too detailed to list. I live here and travel nationally on business and Detroit gets treated like s&$t because of some of the things in it's past that every big city has dealt with. Most people from here are tired of it and don't care if you ever come to the area. It's amazing that a majority of former athletes that played here, still call the Detroit area home and raise their families here. Most people that have something negative to say have never been here or have just been downtown.
