WASHINGTON, October 13, 2006 (RFE/RL) -- Former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright left government more than six years ago but she has not left public life. She now heads up the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs and teaches at the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service. In her latest book, "The Mighty and the Almighty: Reflections on America, God and World Affairs," Albright writes about how President George W. Bush has ceded U.S. moral authority on human rights issues, why Muslims are willing to listen to Al-Qaeda, and the role religious leaders should play in international conflicts.

"I've done a lot of reading of the Koran, and of the Old Testament and the New Testament. I have found bloodcurdling parts in all of them. But I have also found very similar language on issues such as peace, justice, love, and social conscience that's all very similar," Albright said.

Albright also had critical words for the way U.S. President Bush has run his "war on terror." She believes the United States has forfeited its role in the world as the standard-bearer on human rights.

Some highlights from Madeleine Albright's book:

On the United States' failure to intervene sooner during the Serbian army's crackdown in Kosovo: "This was indeed one of those times when, to echo the words of [American civil rights leader] Martin Luther King Jr., our position should have been based not on what was safe, but on what was right."

Not as easy as it looks.

By simple changing of president and administration, basicly, just that is changed. There are scores and scores of lower level oficials, employees that remained in present administration, sabotagin evrything.

When Americans simply understand that Clintons administration, WAS NOT administration but REGIME, americans will start seeing thing better...

What pap. I am waiting for her to point out the "bloodcurdling" parts of the New Testament-of which she probably has read about as much as Dean has.

"It's essential for the United States to have a moral foreign policy, meaning that we live up to our own values: human rights [sic], freedom of speech, the rule of law, etc. That is different from a moralistic foreign policy, where we're kind of telling everybody else that they should live the way just the way we do," said said.

Boy, is she projecting!! That's exactly what the clintonites and other New World Order institutions (e.g., the EU) do to those countries (e.g., most of Eastern Europe) that they want to digest and assimilate!!!

It's also exactly what NWO types do to resistant domestic populations (e.g., using "gay rights" and feminazi "inclusive language" to undermine Christian communities here at home).

There are bloody parts of the New Testament. Most of them are in the book of Revelation/Apocalypse. Then there are the beheading of John the Baptist and the slaughter of the Holy Innocents of Bethlehem.

The Christian Church also accepts the Old Testament in its entirety. Our relationship to the bloody parts of it would be too long a discussion for the time that we all have.

However, the Bible nowhere counsels killing the "infidels" wherever you find them (in any time or place), conquering the world by the sword, and other such features of the Qu'ran. It is true that many muslims do not emphasize these teachings of islam. But many others do, and contrary to what we are hearing from many of our political leaders, they are part of mainstream islam.

This woman is a foreigner with no real feeling for our country or our way of life. She has a European sensibility and identifies with Europe; that's why she travels there to criticize America before foreign audiences: something unprecedented in our history, something Clinton's other Secretary of State--Warren Christopher-- does not and would not do.

Albright's comparison of the Koran and the Bible shows how superficial her knowledge of each is. The Bible is sacred history, and in history there are many bloody episodes. But if she cannot distinguish the "message" of the book of Joshua from that of Isaiah and see the "primitivism" of the Koran, which determinedly rejects the idea of a God who progressively reveals himself to the world, a progress shown in the differences between Joshua
and Joshua (Jesus), then she is not to be taken seriously. Mohamed obviously sees himself as Abraham reborn and every prophetic message after him as corrupt and that his mission is to offer the pure world of God. To do this he is willing , like Abraham, to take up arms.
