Former Massachsuetts Congressman Gerry Studds has died.
The 69-year-old Studds died this morning at Boston Univesrity Medical Center.
He'd been hospitalized after sustaining head injuries from an accident while walking his dog.
Studds was a ranking member of the House Democratic leadership and advocated for New England fishermen and the ocean environment.
studds, who grew up in Cohasset, was the first openly gay person elected to Congress. He served from 1973 to 1997.
He is survived by his husband, Dean Hara. the couple was among the first same sex couples to be legally married in Massachusetts.

What utter nonsense. A man cannot marry a man. And he's not "openly gay." He's "openly homosexual." I'm so tired of the play on words going on in the media. And to say he's survived by his "husband" is a slap in the face of ALL married couples.

The marriage is legal. This is reporting, not advocacy.
Neither did Foley with his emails. So why is he being treated differently than Studds was?
Actually, Studds DID break laws- serving alcohol to a minor is one. I'm sure 'buggery' is another.
No matter, he's in the appropriate place now, I doubt he gave any meaningful repentance for his sins before he kicked off.

I think it is a building in Charlotte. I don't know much about it but I think it is where the School Department has offices.
The incident that got him convicted was something with a high school boy. He apparently liked to take pictures and I guess they got a lot of underage pictures too.
There is a move to re-name the building but the Charlotte City Council doesn't want to do it. (He must have taken a lot of pictures!)
