You're right, at the very least it was like the kids had nicknamed Loraditch "scumbag" as a way of describing his character.... and HE is the guy who started the House Page Alumni Assn. with Jordan Edmund, and still controlled it after Edmund got the boot (they parted ways under hostile circumstances), so there's a lot there that needs to come out in order to really understand the background of those IMs that someone saved and then circulated 3 1/2 years after the fact.

I appreciate the effort to get all the information out. In politics all to often you just see the mud that's been thrown and who it landed on, and not so much who is slinging it and who is encouraging them to sling it and why.
But cut to the chase, gay or straight, it seems to me Foley abused his power and/or sexually harassed Congressional Pages.
Plus he's just a liar. I don't care if he's gay, but he had a wife and kids. What a let-down for his family, and his constituents, to put up such a pretense. I understand it must be hard for a person to admit he/she is gay, but if he is hiding this from his consituents and his family what else has he been hiding? Alcoholism, he says. What else?
Had he been blackmailed it could've been very bad for the country.
I know its a blow to the GOP but the guy has to go. And so does that guy with cash hidden in his freezer. And I'm sure many dozen more congressman who haven't been caught yet.
Wikipedia says Mark Foley is not married. Maybe you're thinking of Jim McGreevy. He has 2 daughters.
I thought I read in one of the earlier articles he was married with children. OK, I'll retract that if I'm wrong.
This is not about making excuses for Mark Foley...it is about finding out if there is a cabal of extortionists and blackmailers wiretapping folks emails and internet sites on Capitol Hill or elsewhere.

He is gone. He was gone within hours of the scandal breaking. And, the money in the freezer, all $90,000.00 of it, belonged to William Jefferson, a Democrat, so of course he should be gone.
