Throughout the war there were many different flags used until the Stars and Stripes were adopted as the official flag of this nation...the flag that General Washington and his armies marched under when the accepted the British surrender at Yorktown...the flag that General Jackson and his army served under when they slaughtered the British outside of New Orleans.
As for your not being English it would be difficult to tell since you speak about "you" American's not "we" Americans. Perhaps you're not English...perhaps you're from one of those nations that still reserves the doors of your own government for the English Royal Family and willingly use the side door in your own seat of government.
We made the decision not to do that any longer...some people are still resentful, other jealous.
Yes, as a matter of fact, many are, lol.
It seems Lady Thatcher's spirit has been replaced by Lady Elton Johns.
I am 100% British but 100% non-English. See if you can work it out?
I really do hate to break this to you Sparky but I really don't much care...it's an old American habit of not being much concerned over things British.
Well, you should be embarrassed. This land was a fairly ethnically diverse place even in those days. To claim that Brits were responsible for overthrowing King George in America is ridiculous. Remember, the real Brits in America were the ones fighting George Washington.
I didn't expect you to be able to. History isn't your strong point. LOL
LOLOL!
He'll struggle to work it out. All the anti-Brit freepers are slower than the rest...
The British troops that faced General Jackson and his outnumbered army, much of which were simple volunteers, were veteran troops who had recently defeated Napoleon.
HAHA!
The funny thing is - I haven't insulted America. In fact I have praised it to the hilt.
I merely told the truth that the people of the thirteen colonies who gained independence were the British settlers themselves. This is an indisputable fact and yet I am being insulted for it? LOL
LOL! You insult yourself...but keep the stiff upper lip Sparky.
HAHA! Again you use an English stereotype to a non-Englishman. Do you call Texans, Yankees?
Englishman, Anglophile...not much difference to an American.
And that is the point I have been making! Thank-you! LOL
<*sigh*>... But as I say, we have our traitors and they have theirs. They best deal with theirs if they want any kind of longterm partnership with us. Because we ARE going to deal with ours and there will be a parting of ways otherwise, imho.
The point Sparky is you're pretty much irrelevent...and no thanks needed for the obvious.
I am going to bed anyway my friend. Goodnight and God bless you, the USA and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
PS. I enjoyed teaching you some American history. If you want anymore just mail me. Bye!
Both a history lesson AND a geography lesson in one thread. I admire your patience, FRiend!
