Reid Apologizes for News Release on GOP Document 'Went Too Far,' Democrat Says

By Charles Babington Washington Post Staff Writer Friday, January 20, 2006; Page A04

Senate Minority Leader Harry M. Reid (D-Nev.) apologized to 33 Republican senators yesterday for a hard-hitting news release that accused them of ethical and legislative lapses, in an awkward about-face that tripped up Democrats' effort to keep the GOP majority on the defensive over alleged corruption.

"I am writing to apologize for the tone of this document and the decision to single out individual senators for criticism in it," Reid said of the 27-page statement sent by his communications office Tuesday. The release, titled, "Republicans cannot be trusted to end the culture of corruption," triggered sharp complaints from GOP officials, who said it violated Senate decorum and brought campaign-style mudslinging into the Capitol.

That "organized crime" remark was kinda unfortunate wasn't it harry, especially in light of your recent troubles;)

I'd be laughing at this except that Reid has CLOSE, VERY CLOSE, YOU WOULDN'T BELIEVE HOW CLOSE, mob ties.

People disappear over this kind of stuff.

Nice try.

Harry was merely appropriating funds to fight REAL corruption, and he did so without costing "working families" a dime. Don't be so cynical!

Anyone know what became of "Bagdad Bob"?

I think it would be great to get him on Foxnews across from Larry Sababto analyzing the democrats screed.

He's probably right. Lord knows he's a lot closer to the problem than any Republican I know.

Corrupt Republicans have already apologized, resigned and are either in federal prison or about to go to prison. Meanwhile, corrupt Dims such as Jefferson, Mollohan, REID, Pelosi, Clinton, and Ted Kennedy remain in Congress in contempt of the law and their constituents.

“The idea of Republicans reforming themselves is like asking John Gotti to clean up organized crime. "

Coming from Harry reid, best friends of Oscar Goodman and partner Jay Brown, both mafia lawyers of the worst kind. People died because of Oscar and Reid. The Carpet Barn owner (Goodman's client) who supposedly tried to bribe Reid, had his son kidnapped and killed. Goodman may have been at the table when Woody Harrelson's dad was sent to kill judge Chagra. Reid claims he was threatened during the Tropicana skim scandal, but then is best friends with the opposing lawyer Jay Brown, partner of Goodman.

Whoooboy, Harry has guts to call the kettle black.

POT TO KETTLE ALERT

He can apologize and amend, but the fact remains that Herry Reid has some very shady connections.

Mr. Reid should resign immediately. An investigation from the ethics committee will validate his decision.
Think Duke Cunningham.

Step down, Mr. Reid. The democrats culture of corruption has to stop.
