And you don't think China will respond, and nuke our cities?
I just don't like your plan at all.

We can take out N Korea with conventional firepower without much effort if the need arises. If Kim dong il fires off a nuke at any of his neighbots, We would have the blessings of most of the world for doing so.

And would Russia have fired off their missiles if we attacked them over Cuba back in the 60s? You Bet. Did they let Castro shoot off any nukes NO. So long as the Russians thought that we would retaliate against Cuba they were more than happy to take the risk of putting some of their nukes under Castro's control. When JFK made it clear that the retaliation would be against Moscow not Havana it changed the equation and the value of having the missiles in Cuba wasn't worth the risk that Castro would get them into a war.

Its all about deterrence. Kim is nuts and you can't deter a nut. China could control him using food and oil but won't do anything because Kim has his nukes pointed a the US, Japan and SK not at them. China doesn't care if he blows Hawaii off the map, nor would they sweat it if we obliterated him in response. By putting China at risk and making it extremely clear that they are at risk makes it to their advantage to use their power to control Kim. NK may still have nukes, but at least their might be someone sane between The Dear Leader and the button.

As for not liking the plan I agree it stinks. But I can't think of any other way to get this guy under control. Its just that he isn't afraid of us and we can't attack him because there is no way to get everything he has before he wastes Seoul.
