State Sen. Tom McClintock, the GOP candidate for lieutenant governor, is generally the darling of the conservative "hot talk" radio crowd, but he's been taking his lumps lately for daring to defend Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, his erstwhile running mate.
Tuesday night, for example, McClintock joined the governor for a Schwarzenegger fund-raiser in Pasadena, then made his way over to the KFI radio studio, where talk show host John Ziegler spent an hour trying to get him to trash the governor.
Having Angelides as governor "would hurt like the dickens and hurt (the state) for years to come," he said.
"I have differences with the governor, but those differences are minor compared to the ones I have to the agenda that Angelides and (Democratic lieutenant governor candidate John) Garamendi would put forward," he said.

Listen to Tom McClintock. He is as conservative you can get and he supports Arnold.
He's handling himself really well on the campaign trail this time out. We might pick this one up--I'm hopeful because I haven't seen any polling data (Lib media hides the bad news).
BTW, I think Ziegler's a jerk. KFI's lineup is either liberal or "conservative" and obnoxious--perhaps this is a deliberate strategy.
They even wrote an article about Tom's appearance on the radioshow. He stayed steadfast in his support of Arnold.
The article also mentioned that Arnold and Tom participated in a joint fundraiser. They are running as a ticket and they have a win strategy.
McClintok is one of the few real conservatives left in California "government" which has really turned into a socialist dung-heap. He would also make a fine governor, better than Arnie, I might add -- but he does not have the recognition factor --- too bad the public is so stupid and ignorant that being a movie star is what it takes to get elected, as opposed to outright fine qualifications.
Bill Simon would have made a far better governor than Arnold.
Tom McClintock would have made a far better governor than Arnold.
They were both sabotaged by Gerald Parsky & Co.
But that's water over the dam. This is now. Unfortunately, in this election, Arnold is the only game in town. There's no one else to vote for.
McClintock ping.
I am sure you'll want to ping your McClintock ping list, since this is all about what McClintock said on the talk show.
He used to be on in Louisville. He was fired for endlessingly talking about his sex life on the air. The final straw was talking about a former girlfriend's private parts in descriptive detail. He was full of himself. Glad he's gone...although the person they replaced him with is boring as all get out and more liberal.
The FCC fine must've been memorable.
If I can bear to hold my nose and vote for Arnold, it will only be because of Tom McClintock. If he can stand him from close up, maybe I can from a distance.
The segment was "ask John anything" which he continues on KFI. The ex-gf, a former Louisville tv news reader, sued but Ziegler prevailed. That all said, he hates Arnold and intends to vote for the Losertarian candidate for governor to 'send a message'.
Simon's campaign didn't need to be sabotaged.
The Dems are afraid that they may lose more than the governorship.
Angelides Seen as a Drag on the Party. Dems fear a repeat of '94 ticket-wide collapse

"A recent Times Poll underscored the fragility of the Democratic effort this year. Despite the left-moderate tilt of the state, Democrats held sizable leads in only two of eight statewide partisan races: Feinstein's Senate reelection effort and former Gov. Jerry Brown's bid for attorney general. In the other down-ballot races, Democrats were either tied or winning narrowly."
Simon got a very bad press. But he came within a very small margin of winning in spite of it, and in spite of the corruption charges which a crooked judge held open until the election. And in spite of Parsky letting the big Republican donors give to Gray Davis, while refusing to do anything to raise money for Simon's campaign.
I like McClintock, he says what he thinks and does what he says he'll do and he's unapologeticly conservative. ( Just like Ronaldus Magnus )
I agree with your post about Tom McClintock: He's his own man.
