Texas Democratic Party Chairman Boyd Richie on Tuesday called for an attorney general's investigation of what he said was the use of inside information on purchases of land near the proposed route of the Trans-Texas Corridor.
Richie attempted to draw a linkage between a company investing in land, one of its owners (former Texas Railroad Commissioner Barry Williamson) and GOP Gov. Rick Perry.
"Inside information," in this case, could mean articles in the newspaper.
The company's 2005 filing with federal regulators cited by Richie says the company, Wilson Holdings Inc., will focus on buying land "around the Central Texas region's developing tollway roads, which are expected to become a part of the Trans-Texas Corridor."
Those roads Texas 130, Texas 45 North and an extension of MoPac Boulevard (Loop 1) have been under construction since 2003.
The probability that Texas 130 will become a part of the corridor twin to Interstate 35 has been part of the public dialogue since 2004.
Williamson, meanwhile, has not held elective office since early 1999 and, though he donated $1,000 to Perry in 2004, has no role in the campaign.

"Inside information," in this case, could mean articles in the newspaper. What a load of macaca. Inside information and publically posted information arent the same thing

I don't see what they could say. Land speculation is land speculation.

They're scheduled to open in November. The Austin area has a long history of unscrupulous developers.

The Austin area has a long history of unscrupulous developers. Happens everywhere and all the time. These things are planned years in advance and the planners know where things are going and so do the department heads. Department heads are usually political appointees and politicians have rich friends.
If you had the opportunity to buy some cheap farm land that you knew would be worth much more in a few years, would you? It would almost be irresponsible not to. However, most of that information is available to the public if they cared to dig a little or just follow the news. As the article said:
"Inside information," in this case, could mean articles in the newspaper.
