He'd still be alive if the Yanks had beaten the Tigers. How crazy life is.

Prayers for the people in the building. Just heartbreaking in the inexcusable act that brought about this disaster.

Poor weather and a new pilot! Bah!

Amen

Fighter jets went over North Texas around noon CST today and hit a "atmospheric disturbance" than on Fox NORAD said that fighter jets were "over a lot of different U.S. Cities"

>>How strange is fate

I forget the year, but the Indians were supposed to move their spring training base to Homestead, FL, but when Homestead was hit by a hurricane, they wound up in Winter Haven instead (former spring training home of Red Sox). Some of their players were out water-skiing at a nearby lake--Lake Mary or Little Lake Mary or something, and three of them died in a mishap...if they hadn't been a hurricane, they would have been
in the Homestead area instead of the Winter Haven area...

That was so sad ... friend's friend is a relative of Gerardi, and I remember his somber announcement to the crowd, awaiting the start of the game.

The Yankees would have won game 4 if Torre had started Lidle instead of the awful Jaret Wright.

oh OK; thanks for correction. I remember the incident because some "radio fans" like me were heading to a get-together in Chelmsford, MA, at an ice cream place owned by a DJ who was part of our group...and the big story that day (mentioned on news and during ballgames) was Kile's death. It was on a Saturday in August of 2000 IIRC.

To say they were disrespectful to him would be an understatement.

I heard that too. They (fatso and fruitloops) were being complete a$$holes. www.wfan.com The interview is on the site.

Well, gallows humor is an old tradition on FR. We all face death, and one never knows when the bell will toll for thee. Gallows humor makes it a bit more bearable.

How do you know the plane wouldn't have crashed the next time he flew it, if there indeed was a problem with the plane?

Not uncommon for non instrument rated pilots to inadvertantly get into instrument conditions and lose control.

Wasn't that what had happened to JFK Jr.?

The Hastert Foley Jokes are good on other threads, not so much here.

It's a tragedy.

gallows humor is one thing, but it's just being stupid at this point.
