AP Exclusive: Reid got $1M in land sale

WASHINGTON - Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid collected a $1.1 million windfall on a Las Vegas land sale even though he hadn't personally owned the property for three years, property deeds show.

In the process, Reid did not disclose to Congress an earlier sale in which he transferred his land to a company created by a friend and took a financial stake in that company, according to records and interviews.

The Nevada Democrat's deal was engineered by Jay Brown, a longtime friend and former casino lawyer whose name surfaced in a major political bribery trial this summer and in other prior organized crime investigations. He's never been charged with wrongdoing — except for a 1981 federal securities complaint that was settled out of court.

And for Harry Reid to think that eventually this corruption would not be revealed shows his ignorance. Especially from one with a big fat mouth that always tries to molest his own “colleagues” from the Congress regardless that they be from the other Party, in such an arrogant way. Being a public official, he is supposed to teach worldly men such as myself how to be truthful, not to lie. And yet, he is a public official taking private monies for his own private benefit and to the benefit of his family, and by not being truthful regarding this he shows himself to be a liar. Our future, that of our country and our children, is tolled by time – and yet he wastes this precious time that is needed to make the future and ensure the future to simply molest those who would want the best for our future, and to waste this time to benefit himself in such a corrupt way.

This world with all its temporary vices, lures us away from life’s one goal – that we give the world the children, the birth, of the next generation, and they the next, to live again under God’s blue sky in a simple way. Yet, it is people like Harry Reid, Democrat from Nevada, who destroy this future.

This is not a minor thing, it is the worst. And so typical.

Harry Reid needs to resign immediately. If he will not do so, he should step aside any leadership role until an investigation of these matters can be made. And if this investigation provides for the truth of the matter, he should pay the price which could include prison time.

Nixon was never impeached. But this matter makes anything Dick Nixon did pale. Nixon was a good man. Harry Reid isn’t.

It be nice to think that the Republicans would go on the offensive with Reid, Jefferson and Menendez as their poster boys. But no. Republicans think they have to act like 'gentlemen' and play 'fair'. Witness their unwilling to use Zucker's commercial. If they had sense they'd pump millions into airing that commercial and paying Zucker to do lots more. Oh well. This story will quietly fade and only the Freebers will have paid attention.

I think it will damage him badly, but being a dim, the media will be forced to acknowledge the story. Rush will be all over it as well as Sean. After it stews up well, I predict the story breaks open like an infected boil!

The only way this will damage him is if he switches to the GOP. Unless he is indicted, impeached, convicted, and jailed the media will probably dismiss this as a lame attempt by the Republicans to detract from the Foley issue.

Call the Senate Ethics Committee today (like I did yesterday), see what they say... and get back to me.

He may be deified by dims, but he has some serious IRS and ethics violations, and with his website screaming that any Republican tainted the least bit should resign and accept responsibility and accountability, he will be great ad fodder for November.

You are so jaded!

Well sure he should resign. And if he had any honor at all he would. But he won't, we both know that. And the ethics committee won't do anything about it without an indictment. Probably because they don't want anyone looking too closely at the finances of the rest of the House and Senate.

And sure I'm jaded. Aren't you?

If this story grows legs it will be because someone is after his Leadership.....Someone may be so confident on winning the Senate in Nov that they want his job...that someone may be the Beast.

I don't have the luxury to be jaded. I have to fight on against this evil. Advance, always advance... never hold ground... always advance.

In a world where GOD empowered David to slay Goliath with a smooth, flat river rock, we can bring down Reid if we remain vigilant. Even 'toon would never get away with it again in today's atmosphere.
