If I may play headshrinker for a moment, Babs famously lost her father at an early age. According to her it made a huge impact, that her father was not part of her life for long. Maybe that's why she's often gone for the strong Svengali types (Jon Peters for instance) and why she prefers to be in awe of men with power. How James Brolin fits into the picture is a mystery, except maybe she's in awe of the fact that someone so good-looking would want her. Maybe he's the male version of a shiksa goddess. :)
