Only limited by their GDP, which is, well huge?

Yeah, they do have a large destroyer force, which most are, I believe, are Aegis class.

People over here are already being taxed ( hidden taxes abound ) to the hilt , and now the government is talking about raising the national sales tax ( now 5% ...but that is 5% of every good and service inc. apt. rentals and medicine and hospital bills and food ...you get the picture ) . Supposedly the social security system is in trouble ( sound familair ? ) ...but I bet they want the added dough for military purposes ...just can't say that now as doves still are the majority in Japan ...
