LOS ANGELES Mel Gibson calls his anti-Semitic rant following his arrest for drunk driving in July "the stupid ramblings of a drunkard."
In an interview with Diane Sawyer set to air on "Good Morning America" on Thursday and Friday, Gibson says while staying sober is a struggle, he has not had a drink in 65 days.
He adds that he plans to continue making movies and working to heal himself and those he offended.
In a partial transcript of the interview released by A-B-C, Gibson says "All you can do is take another step, keep breathing."
The interview with Sawyer is the first time Gibson has spoken to the media since sparking a scandal by unleashing what he later called "vitriolic and harmful words" during his arrest.
: )
BUMP!
" think people took me too seriously when I said he should start drinking again. I honestly do hope he straightens his life out, but I am displeased with his recent actions. I don't hate or even dislike the man. I am just annoyed with him, and I have put money in his pockets over the years by seeing his films which gives me the right to state my displeasure."
Don't believe what you read in the media. FReepers are a living testament to his!
Assuming Mel weighs about 200 that's four beers or thereabouts.
Uhhh...no. That's not EVEN close. It would take at LEAST double that.
You do realize that the legal limit is .08, right?
Yah...you are just totally wrong.
It'll give you .04
Check here if you don't believe me:

It would take 8 beers in an hour to get to .14
That's a cool little calculator. And it makes the point that TIME is an important factor in figuring bac.
Texas Mom: "What a horrendous thing to say. Even jokingly you never offer a drink of alcohol to an alcoholic who is trying to quit.
Why not take and gun and shot him and get it over with."
cornfedcowboy: "Lousy post-you have obviously never been heartbroken due to an alcoholic."
Actually, having known alcoholics and ex-alcoholics, I really do go easy on them. Not that that's going to pacifiy the tigers happy on THIS post! LOL
Thanks for the link. Good information to know.
Libraries would not hold all of the books written on things that people did and said while under the influence.
There are those who claim that whatever is said or done, is exactly what someone would have said or done without the alcohol or drugs, really makes no sense. It would be similar to the claim that anything that a person does or says after getting a drug that many people get before having a colonoscopy, is what they would have said or done.
Drugs and alcohol act to lower our inhibitions, i.e. most sober people would not take off all of our clothes and stand in the middle of an interstate highway, under the influence of drugs or alcohol, many people would have no problem doing that, had they not already passed out.
To coddle one is worse.

Has Mel Gibson fallen off the wagon?
The star who publicly sought help for his alcoholism less than two months ago was spotted drinking beer in Austin, Texas, according to the upcoming issue of the National Enquirer.
I couldnt believe my eyes. Mel Gibson was swigging a Bud with two adoring young women hanging on his every word, the tab quotes a musician named Steven Smith as saying. Smith claims that the alleged incident occurred at Stubb's Bar-B-Q on Sept. 22 at around 1:15 a.m. According to Smith, about 75 people were at the bar, but Gibson and his group were in an area that was cordoned off so no one could bother him.
Another unnamed source backs up the claim, telling the Enquirer He definitely was drinking Budweiser. I saw him.
Gibson was arrested on a drunk-driving charge on July 28 and erupted in an anti-Semitic tirade. On Aug. 17, he pleaded no contest; he was sentenced to three years probation and went into an out-patient treatment for his alcoholism.
Gibson was in Austin for the screening of his new movie, Apocalypto, but his rep insists that he drank no alcohol during the trip.
The storys not true, spokesman Alan Neirob told The Scoop. He wasnt drinking anything alcoholic.
Four beers AN HOUR
Wrong...his views have not changed.
He has always been anti-war. However, he was and still is a social conservaive.
And he has stated his anti-war views in the past. It's just that many conservatives chose to put him on a pedastal after making The Passion.
I appreciate his pro-life and faith stances. But he has never been in favor of Iraq.
