I can't imagaine how he must have been shaking. He could've accidentally shot his mother in the back. If the intruder was pushing the doors and the mother is pushing them back, I don't know how he dared fire that weapon.

I was trained in the Military with a .45. I entered a police simulator at a trade show once and used a laser pistol to take their fire or not test. The instructor told me "the good news is everyone you shot at you killed". "The bad news, you shot everyone". That's why I'm not a cop.

Most 14 year old used to do a mans job and knew about weapons.
I guess sitting in front of a computer or watching TV makes some people afraid and nervous around weapons.
