MINNEAPOLIS In her bright pink hat, Paula Hare has found herself waiting on her stoop a lot lately, for taxi cabs that never come.
Not to avoid confusion, Paula even tells the taxi dispatcher shes transgendred. But on three occasions when the taxi actually showed up, she says Muslim drivers have refused to give her a lift.
This is more than just religion, its flat out discrimination, hare said. And weve got laws against that in this state.
The city of Minneapolis says shes right.
Of the nearly 2,000 taxis in the Twin Cities metro, estimates are as many as half the drivers are recent immigrants many Muslim.
The culture clash is most apparent at Twin Cities international Airport, where two to three times a day, taxi drivers refuse a fare because someone is carrying a bottle of alcohol. Some drivers believe the Koran forbids it.
Soon, the airport will even color code the light bar above taxis to indicate those who wont carry booze.
When FOX 9 stopped by the airport taxi lot to talk about the controversy, we got a near riot. No one said they would give us a ride with a bottle of wine, and they told us to go somewhere else.
Back at Paulas place, the taxi arrives this time, although the driver gives her quite a look. Paula Hare doesnt care, as long as she gets there.
They say its their religion, but they pick up women without veils, Hare said.
The owner of Blue and White Taxi says they suspended one of their drivers who refused to give Paula a ride. That driver eventually quit.
The owner also says three local imams, Muslim religious leaders, have said there is no violation of the Koran if you transport alcohol they just cant touch it.
While the airport is compromising on this alcohol issue, mainly it seems out of a fear of litigation. The city of Minneapolis is not making a compromise, saying if the passenger has alcohol, or is going to a liquor store, cabbies must still give them a ride.
An "Oh what I wouldn't give to have this in New York City!" BTTT.
This is stupid. Cabbies refuse fares every single day. But because a fag is involved its breaking, serious news. Queer.
Sadly, I predict you're right. And when the things get their way on this, they'll get away with refusing service dogs. Then they'll demand women wear head coverings. They'll probably keep scarves in the cab for nonmoslem women to wear. And then women flying into this airport will start bringing their own scarves with them...More sanitary and more "sensitive", don't you know. It makes my blood boil.
Just enjoy the fun of watching the liberals try to wrap their heads around this : Two "victim classes", clashing...who is more of a Noble Victim, the moslem third worlder or the poor downtrodden TV?
the owner should be so excited that his employment of illegal immigrants is being exposed... /s
check out the green cards and call me in the morning.
If the cabs are privately run companies, then they should be free to pick up/ not pick up anyone they want.
In a few years there will probably be a business opportunity in providing disposable headscarves to women flying into Minneapolis Airport. You could sell them from vending machines in the Women's bathroom for a dollar each.
Just give 'em a little more time, especially once they're emboldened by the sight of liberals in positions of power cowering before them and caving into their demands. Then you'll see them not only refusing to pick up women without veils, but people wearing yarmulkes or crucifixes, disabled people with service dogs, women who are unaccompanied by men, etc.
The owner of Blue and White Taxi says they suspended one of their drivers who refused to give Paula a ride. That driver eventually quit.
And I'll bet that driver immediately went running to CAIR, crying about anti-Muslim bias. Once they have enough phony sob stories, they and the ACLU will make their move.
If Paula is a man who has had his things removed, isn't Paula an "it"?
As for bright pink hats, not even Queen Elizabeth has such bad fashion sense.
Are they illegal? I was under the impression the federal government paid big bucks to bring the Somalis over , so areas with insufficient third world populations (Maine, Minnesota) could stop being burdened by the problems brought by their lack of diversity-you know, things like prosperity, low crime rates, those sort of things.
If the state allows these guys to refuse to carry booze, that's the way it is.
Best bet when it comes to taxicab service anywhere is to NOT REGULATE IT AT ALL!
I seem to recall luncheonettes in Alabama back in the 1950's, making the identical claim that they were privately owned dining establishments and had the right to serve or not serve customers.
That's exactly what I believe. That's why in this case I cannot support either the "religion" argument, or the "private company" argument, even though they are more consistent with conservative philosophy. Any concessions to these creatures merely encourages them to ask for more-which would eventually lead to us losing all our rights (dhimmitude). That's how this "religion" spreads and gains power even over nonadherents. So I say smack 'em down, and hope they'll give up and go back to whatever turd world hellhole spawned them.
They have to meet licensing requirements and are requlatedas to number. Not quite the same as the corner grocery.
You could sell them from vending machines in the Women's bathroom for a dollar each.
So, what happens when they stop being cabdrivers and become EMTs/Paramedics? Are they going to stop taking care of patients because they are inebriated? or a transgendered person?? It is NOT going to end here folks...
You're thinking of the ones they would sell in the Men's bathroom...
I'v e heard of service horses before...Miniature horses, which are even smaller than ponies. They're about the size of a German Shepherd. If service horses, then why not service pigs? Pigs are smart animals, so they probably COULD be so trained.
