how do you suppose the African-Americans felt about white people (especially the KLAN-idiots!) wildly waving US FLAGS and BURNING CROSSES to protest integration of "schools, buses & lunch counters".

ever since the turn of the 20th century, the MAIN symbols of the KKK have been the CROSS & the Stars & Stripes.

in point of fact, at the last KLAN demonstration in Washington, DC, there was NOT even (thankfully) ONE CSA flag BUT there were THOUSANDS of US flags waving.

White opposition to desegregation in the South was widespread, angrily vocal, and fully supported by their local and state governments. The CBF was their symbol, and they were affiliated with the Democrat party.
