The principal at a Fayette County middle school has banned all clothing with the confederate flag emblem...

In that silly example, we would see how long KSC remained Federal property as well.
Yes, ridiculous... because Ft. Sumter was not on SC soil.
Yes yes, I'll be sure to remember that next time I go to Charleston.
All that was left for them to do was decide what sort of relationship they would have with the United States. The CSA chose to go to war.
Yep, I'm sure a shot never would have been fired over that minor squabble.
Live and learn. You should take your own advice.

I do. That's why I've basically ditched this thread, leaving it to the tender mercies of that bastion of rationalism that YOU can SEE in some of the OTHER POSTINGS.
It's important to know what kind of person opposes your view, and what kind supports it. When your supporters are little more than Deaniacs (YEEEAAARGH!!!), you've got to wonder if maybe you might not be on the right side.
You obviously haven't been to church or to work lately.
SW, this is the most even-handed and level-headed post I've seen you make. This kind of post might get you and your cause further in the future.
ROFL....
Well, maybe he's been in Baptist and AME churches, where they dress really well.
I figured out what side I was on in the 4th grade. When one of our lovely SC public skool teachers told my class that the Civil War was fought so that I, as a white person, could own slaves. That every injustice against black people that followed was because of white people from South Carolina. After I grew up and started reading more and more into this "unpleasant business" I formed my own opinions.
As you can see, I don't necessarily agree with a lot of the revisionism that has taken root in our schools and popular culture.
I'm American by birth, but I'm Southern by the Grace of God.
May I ask, what was the slaver state of DE doing in the Union, apparently the only 1 completely of its own free will? (I know MD does not count, because it was held hostage to protect their capital.) Was Lincoln really interested in slaves? I think as stated elsewhere more interested in "union", if you can call it that when your brothers don't like you.
"The principal says the students wearing the confederate flags disrupted the learning process."
Well sure it disrupted the learning process. Quite obviously the students who were offended by confederate flags, object strongly that anything other than their rationale for WBTS was being presented to others. Does that spark of a lack of respect for freedom of speech, or what. Does the Principal also appear to be spineless? Does it sound like it's time to replace all these spineless administrators that are a useless excuse for taking up space?
See post #59.
Yankees claimed a moral highground to free the black slave and left their Union army to murder the red man even much later after the WoNA ended - but a Yankee can't bear THAT truth because it nixes their claim of a higher morality thus their revisionists' teachings of how they'd like to believe the war began. Dumn Yankees....
That was...Lincoln's army.
"And the Confederate flag is a very poor symbol of Southern heritage."
Anyone who says this is either in dire need of a history lesson, or they just want to pick a fight.
HISTORY LESSON:
The confederate flag is an excellent symbol of Southern heritage. Those folks who attempt to make it dirty, do not like the what our Founding Fathers stood for...
FIGHTS:
I am soooo not interested...
Good to see you're stiil around stand...it's been a while (at least for me)since we've hashed this out again. Glad to see you still fighting the good fight. God bless.
Because the Republican party decided Lincoln was their man and Southern statesmen took that as an indication the empasse between them and the North had become unbridgeable. It's interesting that Lincoln's name wasn't even on the ballot until the third one which, when his name was vetted, only fueled states' decisions to secede. No, Lincoln didn't have any more of a place on the seceding states' ballots than Vincete Fox would have had on an American's ballot.
Banning clothing of one type, while allowing stuff that others might find offensive (just because it belongs to a minority), or allowing some dumb-ass to run around with a Che Guevara T-shirt, or a Red Star of Communism on their clothes is outright hypocritical. But then hypocrasy seems to be the order of the day anymore. Ban anything with any emblem remotely relating to the Confederacy, but allow the Red Star to be worn (an emblem of a government who enslaved millions and killed millions more). I think the Founders would be spinning in their graves over this one. It smacks of PC and government sponsored speech and thought. Kinda like Communism doncha think?!
This issue really is indicative of the damage done by the liberal establishment. It is painfully obvious that so many people on this thread really do believe that slavery was THE ONLY issue in the war, and believe that they "know" the "facts" surrounding it.
That some "hate whitey and everything white" liberal moonbat loonytoon pulled these "facts" clean out of their butts, never occurs to them. All those "Question Authority" signs you see around publik skoolz mean: Don't question us, Question Conservatives!
I could go on and on.
They question nothing and soak up this pap like so many sponges.
If all I had to go on was what they taught in public education, I'd probably be an America-hating Lefty too. Personal Responsibilty is a coner stone to conservative thought and taking responsibilty for your own education is the first step on building that foundation. Some of us just started earlier than others....
"Kinda like Communism doncha think?!"
Exactly. And the politically correct will find themselves right in the middle of the communist arena, if they don't wake up and check out the effects of their senseless agenda...
