North Korea Threatens to Fire Nuclear Missile if U.S. Won't Commit to Talks

SEOUL, South Korea — North Korea stepped up its threats aimed at Washington, saying it could fire a nuclear nuclear-tipped missile unless the United States acts to resolve its standoff with Pyongyang, the Yonhap news agency reported Tuesday from Beijing.

Even if Pyongyang is confirmed to have nuclear weapons, experts say it's unlikely the North has a bomb design small and light enough to be mounted atop a missile. Their long-range missile capability also remains in question, after a test rocket in July apparently fizzled out shortly after takeoff.

"We hope the situation will be resolved before an unfortunate incident of us firing a nuclear missile comes," Yonhap quoted an unidentified North Korean official as saying. "That depends on how the U.S. will act."

The official said the nuclear test was "an expression of our intention to face the United States across the negotiating table," reported Yonhap, which didn't say how or where it contacted the official, or why no name was given.

China's patience with its longtime ally North Korea appeared to be wearing thin as Beijing warned Pyongyang that its staging of a nuclear test would harm the two countries' relations.

Fears of a new regional nuclear arms race eased when Japan's leader said his nation still had no intention of seeking atomic weapons.

Note to Kim Jong Il:

Bring it, you psychotic little dwarf. Your country will be a smoldering slag heap by noon - not that anyone could tell the difference.

I would think a nuclear bomb or two could take care of the pot-bellied little Marxist madman and his aggressive regime. The only thing I am completely certain of is dialogue is not the proper response to these threats against our country.

Bring it, you psychotic little dwarf.

Amen to that. Firing a nuclear tipped missile would give the U.S. a perfect pretext to take them down.

How many times has North Korea walked away from talks or cancelled them or tried to have it their way???

Also, technically we are still at war with North Korea, the only thing signed was a Cease Fire...so wouldn't it be in our right to lob a few cruise missiles???

Trying to convince a dictator to give up nuclear weapons is like trying to convince an ignorant 16-year-old not to have sex. If he gets the chance, he will do it, and no form of reasoning will dissuade him.

The solution is just as simple, if metaphoric: Castrate the little monster. Talks are useless, sanctions have proven ineffective time and time again.

The only way this would make sense is if they were bluffing about having nukes in the first place.

From the last few days we no know exactly what the Democrats would do at this time. They would rush over there lips pursed to kiss Kims ass and pay him anything he wants. They dont let on to what they would do when he raised the price on his blackmail , but I feel confident they would agree to that too and the next increase.

Anytime you pay blackmail it just keeps getting higher.
