N. Korea soldiers stationed at Sino-N. Korean border, just across Yalu River from Dandong, China

Rather thin, aren't they? Bet they would sell our Kim Jong-Il for a Big Mac.

The guy on the left looks like a toddler trying on his daddy's clothes. If they are this thin, imagine what it's like for the average citizen. They need nukes, their soldiers wouldn't last for 2 hours in battle.

Great point...so much for the fearsome-looking NoKo soldiers...

They look half starved. And look at their boats. The things are more rust than steel. You would think for a photo op they would demonstrate their best equipment.

I read an article a couple of years ago--they sell "special meat" at open markets--human flesh. There are reports of little children disappearing near butcher shops. The penalty is being shot, but people are so hungry they're doing it anyway.

If the diagram is correct, then indeed, this was not a standard underground test. Not only was there a cavity but some sort of enclosure within it. What was the enclosure? Note also the zigs and zags of the access tunnel. Might have been intended to result in a resonance which would cancel out the P-waves and help to minimize venting.
