Yes, it would be nice if the GOP could take a leading stance on these small government issues. But to the extent that MJ legalization is a leftist issue, it certainly isn't a "small government" issue for them. It is a "big government" issue for them, just ask them about the taxes that poppa gov could rake in if MJ was legalized.
I have been to the Harvest Fest in Madison. What an embarrassment! I have long favored legalization from a liberty/sovereignty perspective. These jack asses are a bunch a crispy hippies droning on and on, "...and ya can make oil out of it, and ya can make paper, and it is good medicine, it is good for the birds, it makes good clothes and food..." blah blah blah. I hate hippies. They give pot a bad name. I am guessing the crowd was a mix of bald guys with pony tails and corduroy jackets, white guys with stinky dreadlocks wearing "Free Mumia" t-shirts, homeless people drenched in patchouli (the bathing alternative), and kids just looking to catch a buzz, many of whom will end up catching bad political philosophy instead. Hippies suck.
