Democrats launch new Foley offensive against Republicans
CNN ^ | 10/7/06

(CNN) -- Democrats used the Foley scandal to turn up the heat on Republicans on Saturday, a month before congressional elections that put control of the House and Senate at stake.

The Democrats devoted their weekly radio address to the matter, accusing the Republican leaders in the House of ignoring then-Rep. Mark Foley's "obvious predatory signals" in order "to protect their political power."

Foley, who quit as a Florida representative last month, is said to have sent sex messages over the Internet to teenage boys who had been congressional pages. Republican leaders, including Speaker Dennis Hastert, are accused of knowing about Foley's behavior and not stopping it.

Patty Wetterling, a candidate for a U.S. House seat whose own son Jacob was kidnapped when he was 11 and never seen again, spoke on behalf of the Democrats.

"We need to stop the sexual exploitation of children across the country, and in Washington we must hold accountable all those complicit in allowing this victimization to happen," said Wetterling, a Minnesota child safety advocate .

Thanks. I will check out Human Events. Got to know who to lobby for as new leader. With Frist retiring we got a real good chance for a Covervative take over of the Senate Leadership for the first time since before the Republican take over in 1994 Got to make sure we do not screw it up again. A real solid Conservative running the Senate would be a complete change from what we had. That combinded with this Foley thing may be just what we need to do some House cleaning. That is if we do not blow it and LOSE Nov 7th we got a chance for some real movement of dead wood OUT of the leadership slots

Can we assume if she gets elected she will insist that Barney Fwank quit the house??

Just sick! The Democrats have been trying ot find a good candidate here in Minnesota with name recognition and they court intellectual lightweight Patty Wetterling. Patty is the darling mom of Minnesota. She lost her son and became an advocate for lost children nation wide. Kudos for that.

BUT> the woman is behind in the polls and does not speak much publicly. If you ask her where she stands on things get ready to bang your head against the wall because I don't even think she knows.

Now this commercial is an assult on everyones intellect. And we all know it's about the shock factor. Like most famous people they can over-use their celebrity and I think the Democrats have just done that with Patty........like they do every time.

All this Foley stuff may be put on a back burner when the N. Koreans explode their nuke.

Of when Iran makes their next move.

Or if the next terrorist attack occurs on U.S. soil.

Good grief, everyone is acting like it's 1998 again.

In some cases on FR you have to consider the poster.

The RATS have already worn this "scandal" out, as they always do. The election is still 30 days away, and people are already sick of hearing about one homo congressman sending dirty e-mails to some kid. By the time the truth comes out that this is 99% manufactured by the RATS and their media lapdogs, this could catch the RATS in their own trap.

I have no idea how reliable the posts are. The FReeper
penelopesire claims he (she?) will back up the assertions soon.

I agree MNJ!

I really think the Repubs have an aweful time responding to this crap...but you have to remember they are under a microscope designed to only entrap them. The press just waits for them to make the wrong move. And they are in Washington where everything is amplified 10 fold...so I guess I would be a little skittish.

I get so frustrated with them not standing up for themselves but....they have to play it light. Remember the MSM still controls the megaphone and until that is no longer the case we are going to have to always step on eggshells and in the proccess seem skittish.

We need lean hungry tough guys not these old "Moderates". This is war. Too many of the Washington Old boys are part of the club. They get seduced by the Washington Noise machine. Get really sick of hearing from Republican activists how we "need to take the higher ground" Well we keep taking the higher ground and NOTHING gets done so let do OUR way. They want smash mouth politics? Fine, give it to them. I want someone who is so tough that at the very mention of their name the members of the Leftist media fall down foaming at the mouth and twitch. Give me a political Patton, a Stonewall Jackson, a Bull Halsey.

We send these people there to do war on the Political Media complex, not become PART of it.

I've seen this kind of stuff as far back as Whitewater. Some FR user with "special knowledge" promises some mind-blowing revelation to come. I prefer the "wait and see" attitude.

" Foley's "obvious predatory signals"

Is that the new Democrat code word for being gay ?

Laura Ingraham is doing her best to depress everyone in her listening audience with her doom and gloom attitude of late.
I won't be listening to her until she snaps out of her funk.

I agree and we cannot repeat that enough times. We need to make it clear that anyone who would have discriminated against Foley 3 weeks ago is just awful.

I'd love that too, but unfortunately, Reagan is no longer with us.

Repelled by former Republican congressman Mark Foley's sexual overtures to congressional pages and ex-pages, and by the House GOP leadership's alleged failure to move aggressively against him? Vote Democratic. Worried about the Demo crats' tendency to coddle jihadists? Vote Republican.

I just ran across the exchange this afternoon, and thought I'd bring it to the attention of others who may not have read the thread. It's just one more thing to throw into the pot and see if anything comes of it.

The only "obvious predatory signal" before last Friday that any Republicans knew about was that he was gay. Now the Democrats are calling for lynch mobs to go out and find all gays. No, that's wrong. They only want gay Republicans lynched. Same with black Republicans... and white Republicans, come to think about it.

The Democrats are going to shoot themselves in the foot if they pursue this one. Keeping Buttboygate in the headlines works against their own gay constituency, which has been trying to convince the straight public that gay pedophilia is a myth.
