I went to a Pentecostal service. More than once I felt I accidentally walked into a nuthouse.
Stand far away from those who arise and babble and tell you it is the word of God, judgment can't be far from them.
i heard that. bloody freakshow.
Being that I come from a conservative baptist background, I had the misfortune of belonging to a penecostal church when my family and I moved to n. ca.. I couldn't get past the fact that the pastor's wife wanted so bad for me to speak in my heavenly language. I thought that it would be more important to strive for love, but she was hung up on the speaking in tongues. There was a reason for that in Acts. They had many different tongues they had to preach to, and for that reason they spoke in tongues. They also believe you can lose your salvation, which I consistently opposed. When you accept Christ, truly accept Him, He bought you and you aren't your own any longer.
Ditto, after the dancing started and went on and on and on, the preacher gave up and just went with the flow... The message was not given to the flock... Sorta defeated the purpose of teaching IMHO... Sorry... want some meat with my church service...
The problem I have when attending a Pentecostal service is that why is it only then that God speaks through a member of the congregation? And, why does it seem to always be the same person, or between one or two persons at the church? If talking in tongues was being directed by God's hand, I'd think it would be up to Him on who He chooses for His vessel.
Nu.11:27 And there ran a young man, and told Moses, and said, do prophesy in the camp.
11:28 And Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of Moses, one of his
young men, answered and said, My Lord Moses, forbid them.
11:29 And Moses said unto him, Enviest thou for my sake? would God
that all the LORDs people were prophets, and that the LORD
would put his spirit upon them!
They thought that Eldad and
Medad were strange, too, but Moses knew better.
