He was called Raboni, which means teacher, which he was. He was a carpenter until he was called into the ministry around the age of 30.
Prior to His ministry, Christ was a carpenter by trade. So He could be both a carpenter, and then go into His ministry in which He taught (which is what a rabbi is). I don't understand what the controversy is here.
