God does not give us things so we can give part of them away to help people and keep the rest for ourselves. That idea seems counter-productive.

When we pray for prosperity, Satan's eyes light up. He knows that pretty soon, we will begin measuring our spiritual "success" by his standards. We begin to feel we "deserve" earthly treasures because we are "good". When we receive those earthly treasures, we declare "victory". Then he yanks the money away and we are defeated.

We lke to have a little jingle in our pocket to feel "blessed". The only thing Jesus ever carried with Him was a Cross.

There's much truth in your assertions.

However, Jesus was not always 100% of the time in 100% of His statements so harsh.

I'd rather follow His balance.

Yes, there are super hazards of the flesh on all sides.

One group of Christians doctrinally forbade all jewelry etc. construing reality along the lines of your assertions.

Then they forbade buttons because folks were using the quality of the buttons to exercise one upsmanship.

Pride is human and finds ways . . . depending on the degree to which one takes up one's cross daily etc.

But gnosticism is no salvation.

And, it IS SCRIPTURE THAT GOD HIMSELF

WOULD THAT WE PROSPER

AND BE IN HEALTH

EVEN !!!!KEY!!!! AS OUR SOUL PROSPERS.

But it never works to get the cart before the horse.

Not all are called to be Francis of Assisi.

Not all are called to be Sam Walton.
