Schwarzenegger Says Some Mexican Immigrants Need To Work Harder To Assimilate
Democratic gubernatorial candidate Phil Angelides criticized Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger Friday for suggesting that Mexican Americans should work harder to assimilate into American society.
The governor said Thursday that some Mexican immigrants "try to stay Mexican" when they come to the United States.
Angelides called Schwarzenegger's comments insulting.
"That kind of stereotyping from a governor of the state of California has no place, no place in our public dialogue," Angelides said during a campaign stop in Sacramento.
"I think that if my opponent, Phil Angelides, makes this a political issue, and if he doesn't like the idea of a melting pot, then he is out of the mainstream," said Schwarzenegger, himself an immigrant from Austria.

``They try to stay Mexican but try to be in America, so there's this back and forth,'' Schwarzenegger said, surrounded by Asian-Americans at a Moon Festival celebration in Los Angeles. ``What I say to Mexicans is you have got to go immerse yourself and assimilate into American culture and become part of the American fabric. That's how America will embrace you.
``The secret -- if there is one -- to success, I was embraced by the American people because I love America, I love the language and I made every effort to become American.''
Latino and Asian-American Democrats immediately pounced on the remarks, calling them ignorant and ill-informed, and using them as an opportunity to promote Democratic gubernatorial candidate Phil Angelides, who trails Schwarzenegger badly in the polls.
at this point, i'm honestly wondering if there's a reason angelides is running the stupidest political campaign that i have ever seen.

Angelides is catering to the leftist, America- and free-enterprise-hating moonbats, and he is one himself.
Angelides is just catering to those who choose to be offended over hearing the truth. They should assimilate, they shouldn't expect to be catered to and have ballots printed in spanish, pressing 2 if you want spanish, having signs all over the place in spanish, and I say this from the perspective of someone who speaks spanish and is hispanic.
What a worm that Angelides is. Even crazy liberal Kalifornians dont want a worm as a leader.
Arnold appeared and spoke at the national convention of La Raza at Staples Center in downtown LA. He is just another whore. He's just not openly treasonous.
Does California have any safeguards whatsoever to prevent illegals from voting?

That pretty much sums up the Left's views towards the free, open expression of rational, mainstream views.
I have to wonder which of the two is the more non-trustworthy.
.
The point is that both Republicans and Dems spoke -- they all want the Hispanic vote.
As I recall, the Republicans spoke of self reliance and opportunities.
Here's the transcript of Arnold's speech.

You are just another one of those who bashes Arnold, no matter what.
You all really should watch this video of Angelides bloviating against the war on Iraq. It's really disgusting, but it portrays the real Angelides.

You gotta be kidding me! As one who was a poll watcher in the last two election, I can tell you that you are Forbidden to ask a voter anything about his/her elegibility to cast a ballot.
So how do you keep people from voting illegally? Or multiple times?
Addressing Asian American leaders, the governor called Asians "smart" and "hardworking," adding that their cultures remind him "very much of the Austrian way of you know, it's education, education, education."U.S. Rep. Mike Honda, D-San Jose, said those remarks were "appalling." "It really reflects a 1920s mentality that harkens back to the old days when Asian Americans were 'model minorities' and we worked hard," said Honda, a Japanese American.
Typical of Dems, they find education "appalling".
9th Circuit Court blocks Arizona voter ID law

"Late Wednesday, the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco blocked the enforcement of Proposition 200.
Arizona voters passed Proposition 200 back in 2004.
It requires voters to show identification at the polls and to have proof of citizenship when registering to vote.
At least six advocacy groups, Including MALDEF, an Hispanic rights advocacy group, filed a lawsuit challenging the proposition.
They claimed it would disenfranchise some voters."

Yes, asking for ID and proof of citizenship "disenfranchises" all the illegals.
