Criticizes the Media For Trying To Supress Conservative Vote.
She kept moving the column's focus in different directions and finally settled more on a 'where to go from here in the short term' for the GOP.
But, don't be surprised if she makes the point in the near future, as many other conservatives should do.
This is no longer about the relative merits of whether Makr Foley is guilty or innocent of the acts sttributed to him. The real target, all along, was Dennis Hastert, and the slim chance he could be called upon to resign from his position as Speaker, thus leaving the entire House of Representatives in chaos just before an election. This was a highly intricate frame perpetuated upon the Republicans, by no less than Nancy Pelosi herself, who almost certainly was in on the scheme from the beginning.
Fake IMs were sent out to entrap Mark Foley, by persons who themselves were already of the age 18, and therefore not minors in the eyes of the law. The impression was left, that the pages were innocent victims of a predator.
Considering the ruckus kicked up in several instances years ago about the improper advances made by other Congressmen upon "underage" pages (in DC, the age of consent is 16), no Congressman with a lick of sense or an instinct for self-preservation would TOUCH one of these little time-bombs. It does not play well in Peoria.
But once the perpetrators of this "prank" are 18 years old, at the time they begin their jest of the Congressman, different rules apply. There is still a great disproportionate difference between the level of a page and a member of Congress, and simple courtesy should apply.
But these are very rude little brats, many the children of privilege and wealth, and they are old enough to begin dirty tricks in favor of the ideology with which they are most familiar. Since Republicans, despite their electoral popularity elsewhere in this wide country, are held in disdain in certain areas, they are regarded as fair game by the less respectful youth originating in those regions.
The Capitol Hill page system should be abolished, and banished to the same place in history that was reserved for the inkwells at the desks of the individual Representatives and Senators. The pages are an anachronism that has continued far beyond their time.
I think Joe Scabourgh is a jerk
