This is the Bush Doctrine?
National Review Online ^ | 10/5/2006 | Michael Rubin

Ha’aretz is reporting a meeting between Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Tanzim leaders (h/t Ozmandiyas). What ever happened to Bush’s war on terrorism? On June 27, 2002, Rice identified Tanzim as a group that “traffics in terror.” ....exchange below from a June 28, 2002 State Department briefing:

QUESTION: Yesterday [June 27, 2002], in some remarks she made in Canada, Condoleezza Rice referred to Fatah and Tanzim as a group that traffics in terror. I know that there's been some thought before about whether or not Tanzim should be considered a Foreign Terrorist Organization. Is there any change in thinking on that in the last week?

MR. BOUCHER: That's very consistent with what we've always said, that those are groups whose members, and some of the associated organization, including al-Aqsa, which I think has been associated with them, where there have been people involved in terror, and people who have been involved in working with terrorists.

So I don't think that's — that's not a new designation...

QUESTION: But you believe Tanzim does traffic in terror?

MR. BOUCHER: Absolutely. She said so; we agree, too. It’s almost as if Kerry won and named Nicholas Burns is Undersecretary of State.

I was going to write a "clever" comment.

But I can't due to the nausea I'm experiencing.

Maybe an Administration apologist can come forward with a good explanation to relieve me.

That ain't the Bush Doctrine, that's simply an inconsistent foreign policy initiative.

As I understand it, under the Bush Doctrine, the United States aims to absorb at least half the population of Mexico, but none of the land.

It's been an uphill battle ever since "winning hearts and minds" became the priority.

The Bush Doctrine never seemed to apply to Israel.

So it ok for the Goverment of Isreal to talk to these people but it is some how evil that we do? Maybe the Knee Jerk hysterics might actualy get a clue rather then daily looking for the next think to have a mental breakdown over.

Mindless lockstep Bush supporters would seem so much less foolish if their opinions were based on facts.

Israel doesn't talk to terrorist killer group Tanzim, they hunt them down and attempt to kill them.

Apparently Mr. Rubin at National Review has been reading my posts here on FreeRepublic, for he's now saying about Rice and Burns what I have been saying here for months.

Don't forget the part about where we're all supposed to bleat that Islam is a "religion of peace" while its adherents saw our heads off. That's central to the current doctrine as well.
