Uh, huh, and some here are swallowing an uncredited, unsubstantiated Drudge snippet in exactly the same way. Foley resigned because....? Have an answer to that? There may be some dirty timing on the part of whomever leaked this, and possibly some embellishment in the content of the IM's, but with the hurried resignation and rehab of Foley, where there's smoke, there's a five alarm fire raging. As I've said for days, we're more worried about going after the messenger and not simply worrying about the real problems in our own house.

Drudge has been known to be right about a lot of things. Personally, I trust Drudge in general more than ABC.

I have no idea why Foley resigned. Probably because he knew that he would be thrown to the wolves by his own party?

He resigned because people on both sides threw him to the wolves. The democrats are just as guilty in his resigning. Their fingerprints are all over this mess.

Tell you the truth, after I heard about that "prank"...read setup...I kind of feel sorry for Foley. Although I'll allow that there's much more about Foley that I likely don't know. But give the hysteria time to die down, and let there be no more revelations about Foley, and I think the GOP could play up this angle.

Poor guy got duped then lost his seat in congress. All at the expense of a couple of yuk-yuks taking advantage of a demented and sexually frustrated soul. The Dems would pick up this spin in a minute.
