CLAIM: FILTHY FOLEY ONLINE MESSAGES WERE PAGE PRANK GONE AWRY
**World Exclusive**
**Must Credit the DRUDGE REPORT**
According to two people close to former congressional page Jordan Edmund, the now famous lurid AOL Instant Message exchanges that led to the resignation of Mark Foley were part of an online prank that by mistake got into the hands of enemy political operatives, the DRUDGE REPORT can reveal.
According to one Oklahoma source who knows the former page very well, Edmund, a conservative Republican, goaded an unwitting Foley to type embarrassing comments that were then shared with a small group of young Hill politicos. The prank went awry when the saved IM sessions got into the hands of political operatives favorable to Democrats.
The primary source, an ally of Edmund, adamantly proclaims that the former page is not a homosexual. The prank scenario was confirmed by a second associate of Edmund. Both are fearful that their political careers will be affected if they are publicly brought into the matter.
The prank scenario only applies to the Edmund IM sessions and does not necessarily apply to any other exchanges between the former congressman and others.
The news come on the heels that Edmund has hired former Timothy McVeigh attorney, Stephen Jones.
Developing...
Ya' know, it's great news for our side but something still greatly troubles me.....
If it was all staged and fake, why did Foley resign so quickly before the bulk of the allegations were made public?
Doesn't add up.....
I wouldn't get to excited: The young man is probably just saying "it's a prank" so the whole world won't think he's gay.
Either way that creepy perv Foley took the bait.
The good news is we are closer to outing the Dem operatives who had these creepy IM's.
I have no doubt about that, but this story seems to good to be true.
That would be my guess as well.
Too many "Ha! Ha!" and "LOL's" by the page raised my suspicion of a prank. Too many seemed to be focused on the lurid details and what Foley was saying.
Karl Rove better cause another Democrat's plane to crash.
Foley wasn't playing. He thought it was real.
ROVE! you magnificent Bastid!
I have been suspicious on the IM's all along - too easy to fake. I think there is blackmail going on here for something worse than a 54 year old pervert flirting in e-mail. Maybe not, but it has the earmarkings...
If it's a prank, why did Foley resign?
What is it about us FReepers and spelling?
LOL, that is how we spell 'huge' on FR. It's a long, long story, LOL.
Because Rove ordered him to.
gotta be..I was wondering why the "victim" would need an attorney..
Yup. Nobody has yet said that Foley had sex with this page. Not even the page.
And who ever said that all persons party to a prank are INVOLVED in the prank?
Foley was the target and he took the bait.
Do you think it was some kind of set up and now the pages, in fear, are playing the "it's just a prank" defense? Maybe it was something more sinister, and the prank claim is to protect themselves. Guess I need to be fitted for my tinfoil hat...
