I didn't know which ones, but there are 10 or 12 that are supposedly doing it.

Between this group, and Gleason effectively backing Murtha over Irey, and various Republican committees not helping conservative Republicans, it would seem that there really is only one party and the conservatives aren't very welcome in it.

Fat eddie looked like a bugsy siegel hit man

To the ratz I have to deal with everyday that would be a plus. They LOVES crooks!

I couldn't catch the debate...saw an exchange on WTAE newscast around 3AM and Swann DID look good. Of course the only ound bites our news service sent the radion stations where I work were on the exchange were Swann interrupted Fast Eddie while he was talking about property tax reform. Gov Ed scolded Swann for interrupting, Swan apologzed and then Ed went into attack mode...made Swann admit that it was against heh rules of debate and that Swann had to play by the rules when he was a Steeler. I wish I could have seen how Swann recovered, but of course we didn't get that.

I guarantee that's the only sound from the debate that will get aired.

Rendell went on some BS tangent about how, 'We are going to make a one time payment to ensure that EVERY single child in PA has a laptop at school.'(something along those lines) And then Swann got his time and said something like, 'There is no doubt a laptop is a great tool for learning but what good is it if you can't read?'

I agree with Swann about computers. What good is it if you can't read. Most kids use computers for games and instant messaging in their abbreviated text.

"14 GOP Mayors Endorsing Rendell"

"Election time is right around the corner and the incumbent in the race for governor in Pennsylvania is getting support from the other side of the political aisle. Governor Ed Rendell has received an endorsement from fourteen current and former Republican mayors in Pennsylvania. One of those supporting Rendell is Easton Mayor Phil Mitman. Rendell goes up against Republican Lynn Swann in November."

Phil Mitman, the idiotic Republican mayor of Easton, PA who endorsed Democrat Rendell.

After fat eddie was raving about the improvement in the PA education system, Swann quoted the numbers on the most recent AP test given to high school seniors. In 2005, out of 2200 black seniors in Pittsburgh, only 29 took the test and only 3 passed.

That is an outrageous figure. Good for Swann for bringing it out. IMO education can't improve until kids start reading books for pleasure again, instead of playing video games. When I was a kid, we went to the library, checked out books, and actually read them.

"Carlisle mayor joins group endorsing Rendell"

"Carlisle Mayor Kirk Wilson and other Republican mayors from across the state on Saturday endorsed Democratic Gov. Ed Rendell for re-election.

Saturday’s endorsement group, including Easton Mayor Philip Mitman, Lebanon Mayor Bob Anspach and Bradford Mayor Michele Corignani, gathered at Harrisburg’s city hall.

The other mayors making the endorsement were Clifford “Kip” Allen of Edinboro, Ed Dallape of Ferndale, Tom Wisnosky of Morrisville, Edward E. Sharp Jr. of Oil City, Sally Geyer of St. Mary’s, Brian Sanford of Titusville and Bill Goldsworthy of West Pittston.

Wilson says Rendell has been especially kind to Carlisle since he was elected four years ago.

Without the governor, Wilson says, Carlisle probably would not have secured the funding necessary for the Molly Pitcher Hotel and the Business Central projects downtown.

Rendell also played a key role in the success of efforts to ease the environmental impact of Home Depot on LeTort Spring Run, to turn an abandoned factory into Bedford Street Antiques and to save Carlisle Barracks from the BRAC military base-closing process, Wilson says.

“And he deserves sole credit” for convincing Penn State officials to accept a 20-year commitment to keeping Dickinson School of Law in Carlisle rather than a shorter span, the Carlisle mayor says.

“Ed’s been good for the state and extra good for Carlisle,” Wilson says, adding “it’s not unusual” for the governor to call him for feedback on issues."

"Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell brought a $9 million state grant to Easton. Present were Tom Goldsmith ’63, former Easton mayor (L-R); Phil Mitman, Easton's Republican mayor; Bob Freeman, state representative; Mike McFadden, former Easton mayor; Lafayette President Arthur J. Rothkopf ’55; and Glenn Reibman, Northampton County executive"

I thought Swann looked great. What are all of those Republican mayors afraid of? Losing money for their cities and the mob machine????

Those mayors are probably RINOs to begin with or Dems that were just looking for an office to run for.

I saw neither debate, but I just heard that Swann said that making English our official State language was a bad idea.

Watch him drop in the polls after that is more widely know. Where is his brain, missing or just not engaged?

He must want to lose.
