Hastert has habit of protecting the team no matter what. In 2001, Sen. Peter Fiztgerald wanted to recommend to President Bush a US Attorney for Northern IL to investigate corruption in my state (IL). Hastert tried to sidestep Fiztgerald and urge Bush appoint by his own recommendation for US Attorney. Bush appointed Patrick Fiztgerald, Sen. Peter's choice. Since then, Peter Fiztgerald's relationship with the IL GOP soured. Hastert's "Protect the Team" approach has damaged our 2006 prospects.

Kuksool, the irony is that Patrick Fitzgerald screwed up the Plamegate affair and held Rove on a string for a year, when he knew it was Armitage all along.

So Hastert sunk Senator Fizgerald in 2002 and tried to sink Coburn in October 2004.

And talked Foley into running again for 2006.

With friends like this guy, who needs enemies.

" Peter Fiztgerald's relationship with the IL GOP soured."

Interesting. It got sour with the Gov guy who got convicted of corruption? fancy that... so those corrupt 'get along go along' GOP leader didnt like a smart effective senator and his DA.

It's tragic we threw away the Fitzgerald seat for obamarama.
