This being in Utah, I wonder if polygamy is somehow involved, say that the parents wanted her to be someone's plural wife. Oh good grief.
read the story. It says they got married in the SLC Temple - that's the real Mormon Church - not the breakaway that practices polygamy.

Maybe the groom was the real Mormon, but the bride's family was one of those polygamy followers?
